Measurements of inclusive particle production in p+p and heavy ion collisions
at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) show exciting new experimental
features. These measurements, via the large energy deposited and the large
number of particles produced, show evidence of a dense, opaque,
low-viscosity, pre-hadronic state -the Quark Gluon Plasma.
I will discuss the implications of these results and the motivation they
provide for further studies at the Large Hadron Collider.
