Current fluctuations: scaling and renormalisation

The idea of current fluctuations is introduced in the context of simple one dimensional transport models (exclusion processes).
A technique to calculate these fluctuations with the density matrix renormalisation group is introduced.
We investigate the scaling properties of current fluctuations near a non equilibrium phase transition.
The relevance of our results to stochastic gene expression is also discussed.
