Scaling, Self-similarity and Superposition

Dynamical self-similarity is ubiquitous in astrophysics, from supernova blast waves to evolving viscous thin disks. I will introduce a novel procedure for the nonlinear superposition of two self-similar solutions of a nonlinear diffusion equation and show its application to some problems in astrophysics, ranging from active galactic nuclei to protoplanetary disks.
