This talk gives a short introduction to the emerging field of quantum thermodynamics and reviews our contributions to the field. We have recently proposed a quantum Otto engine of two spins coupled to each other with a spin squeezing interaction . We have examined the interplay of quantum information and work harvested by the engine. Our results revealed the regimes where the quantum correlations could enhance the efficiency and work extraction. More recently, we have generalized these results to multiple spin systems . In particular we considered quantum models of photosynthetic reaction centers and light harvesting complexes. We proposed a quantum Huygens clock mechanism to enhance quantum coherence. In the continuum limit we mutate the spin model into a spin-boson system which can be implemented via superconducting circuits.
