Stochastic thermodynamics and generalization of the second law

Abstract:Stochastic thermodynamics is a novel theory which enables the study of systems with equilibrium and non-equilibrium states. Moreover, the stochastic nature of this theory makes it possible to study small systems at finite time. A related topic of research in this context is the nature of second law extended to non-equilibrum stationary states. This talk first introduces the basics of stochastic thermodynamics, and then presents new derivations of second-law like relations.
