Abstract:
Sphere is the ideal geometry for a resonator in many branches of physics. In optics, with high quality factor morphology dependent resonances such as geometric resonances or whispering gallery modes, the sphere leads itself to various electromagnetic applications. In this talk, we will focus on the properties of silicon spherical resonators and their applications in the near-infrared part of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Keywords: silicon, optoelectronics, photonics, microsphere, microresonator, optical resonance.
