Abstract: A working lamp that can be used on the off-road working machines is designed by using the high-power LED diodes to replace a commercial halogen lamp. Firstly a LED array is determined and a proper driver circuit that can provide the required optical power is designed. The working lamp developed is tested under various conditions. The luminous output values of the LED working lamp are compared with those of the commercial halogen lamp. It is evaluated that in automotive applications lamps using LEDs could be successfully utilized.
Biography: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Celal Zaim ÇİL received the B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1982, 1984, and 1989, respectively, in Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey. He worked as a Lecturer in Air Force Academy, Istanbul, Turkey until 1994. He then worked as an engineer in NAPMA, NATO, Brunssum, the Netherlands in 1994-97, and as a manager in HAVELSAN, Ankara, Turkey in 1998-2006. He has been lecturing since then in the Department of Electronic and Communication Engineering of Cankaya University, Ankara, Turkey. His research interests include semiconductor characterization, laser beam propagation through atmosphere, LED applications, analog and digital electronic design with VHDL and FPGA.
