Prof Naci Inci received his BSc degree in physics from Marmara University, Istanbul, in 1987. He received his PhD degree in physics from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK, in 1993. From 1993 to 1994, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow on fibre optic communication systems at the Electrical Engineering Department, Stanford University, CA, USA. In 1994, he moved to Bogazici University as Assistant Professor at the Department of Physics. He was promoted to Associate Professorship in 1996. He worked at the same department until 1999. From 1999 to 2005, he worked as a faculty member at Sabanci University. He took an active part in establishing laboratories and curriculum of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. He developed strong relations between the university and industry; and obtained two international patents for one of the country’s pre-eminent industrial establishment. In 2005, he joined Bogazici University as Professor of Physics. Prof Inci was the Head of Physics Department from  2014 to 2018.
