Tirebolu is a subprovince (ilçe, usually translated into American
English as `county') in the Giresun province.
The administrative center is a town
of the the same name, one of the most beautiful small towns on the eastern Black Sea
coast of Turkey. The name is the distorted form of its ancient name, Tripolis,
so named because of three castles nearby.
On the left, you see the main castle (at
harbor entrance) at night.
Below, a similiar view during the day.
is what some American students wrote about Tirebolu's hazelnuts and hazelnut factory.
is their picture of Tirebolu's market.
